Distributor - Manufacturers Meeting in Hood River

The AWSI board has scheduled a distributor meeting to take place in Hood River Friday June 29th,  the day before the start of the Gorge Wind Fest. We have reserved the River View room at the Hood River Inn from 9:00AM to 1:00PM and a continental breakfast will be provided.

The Morning schedule will include:

Shaun O'Brien - Social Marketing; an Avenue to Growth.

  • Sean is the Online Marketing & Communications Manager for Surf Expo and has fifteen years experience in the boardsports and outdoor industries. A journalist and editor by trade, O’Brien is now immersed in the rapidly changing world of new media and the effect it has on how manufacturers communicate with their consumers. He previously was the editor/chief content director of TransWorld Business and assisted in web platform development for TransWorld Media back in 1996.

Todd Weatherill will speak on the rep/retailer/consumer/team rider relationship and as an added bonus will give an overview on the evolution of the wakeboarding industry.

  • Todd is the National Sales Manager of GFH Boards and a sales and marketing trainer and voice personality in the Action Sports Industry. Todd worked retail for Tommy’s Slalom Shop in Denver, Pro wake boarder for Team O’Brien and became the First President of the World Wakeboard Association. Todd became the Texas area-rep for O’Brien Waterskis, and O’Neill Wetsuits, and was featured in annual films by wakeboard and surf companies. By 1996 Todd was announcing live-site events for the Waterski Pro-tour, Van’s Triple Crown, and was the host and analyst at the Wakeboard X-Games, the Wakeboard Pro-tour, X-Games events and qualifiers all over the world hosting shows for ESPN, ABC, Disney, FOX, Fuel TV, Fusion TV, and now the Outdoor Life Network.

Donn from Siriani & Associates will update us on the new FedEx Freight program and discuss the trade show freight discounts.

We will also have three topics and an open discussion:

  • Insurance
  • The Florida Demo Location
  • The Summer House; a public relations opportunity with 35+ mainstream magazine editors.
  • Open Discussion on the state of your Association

We will break after noon for a free afternoon of wind, paddling, golf or biking.

The meeting will reconvene at 6:30 PM at Rick Bruner's home for a Barbeque dinner party in a style only the Gorge has to offer.

We need you here, yes YOU!

The AWSI FORUM is online!

We have set up a couple of topics of discussions that will allow you to post questions or responses on topics from the trade show, demo day, distributor meeting, benefits available to the association and insurance.

As we populate the Forum, THIS will be the place to disperse and review information and contact various members with in their area of expertise. We have the ability to password protect groups to keep consumers from viewing our internal discussions.

Please check out the FORUM, register and as we get our members registered, we will set up discussion groups per your requests.
